At this point, all the fighters are undefeated, but in the famed words of Conor "The Notorious" McGregor, by the end of the show "somebody's 0 has got to go" (hahaha).
However, for those who have been waiting in anticipation for the show, Saturday could not have come any quicker.
The rivalry between the two opposing coaches, Irshaad Sayed and Demarte Pena, could not be anymore real than it is. With history behind their feud, which makes for great entertainment, the season premier kicked off with a bang. From choosing their teams (5 fighters each side), having a fighter leave the house due to medical reasons (or rather, not receiving medical clearance), a new fighter joining, and everything else in between, The Fighter promises to be anything but dull.
Great quality and realism. But they need to focus more on the training and fighting.Stop trying to make drama and let them fight #TF1— Hermie Drotschie (@HermieD_MMA) October 15, 2017
With all the drama of the show, the fans were hoping to see a fight on the very first night. This however, did not happen, which many fans thought to be anticlimactic.
"Was good just thought they would play the first fight Saturday past.. " - Anonymous
" Also wanted to see a fight or something I mean that's why everyone tuned in" - Anonymous
Not all fans shared this sentiment. Some fans, on the other hand were absolutely delighted by the by the show.
All in all, it was a great start to the show. I too was waiting in awe for a fight to take place and realised 55 minutes into the show that it probably wasn't going to happen in this episode. Guess we'll have to catch the second episode this Saturday on SABC 3 at 21:00 to see exactly how things unfold.
