Medical costs covered thanks to Constantia Insurance

Johannesburg, South Africa – At the recent EFC 65 event South Africa’s Deon Bruning faced England’s Gavin Hughes in an official number one contender fight.

After arguably winning the majority of the first round, Bruning suffered a torn MCL and broke his hand near the end. He went on to fight the remaining two rounds severely injured with a visible difference to his. He ultimately lost the bout via decision.

He has recently been admitted to Hermanus Mediclinic for surgery to his knee. Bruning posted the following on social media prior to the operation:

“I am not beating myself up over my loss at @EFCworldwide #EFC65. I fought 3 rounds with a torn MCL, damage to my meniscus and a broken hand. Surgery tomorrow morning to repair the knee and then back in the ring as soon as possible!”

“Thanks to Constantia for providing EFC athletes the best medical care possible,” stated EFC President Cairo Howarth. He added, “We wish Deon a speedy recovery.”
