Eliasov vs Penco takes top spot on fight card
Johannesburg, South Africa – Last week it was revealed that former champion Boyd Allen had notified EFC about an illness which may force him to pull from the fight against champion Igeu Kabesa. It is now official - Allen has withdrawn from the bout to be replaced by the highly dangerous Brazilian, Paul ‘Bananada’ Silva.
Taking place at the heavier lightweight Igeu Kabesa is no stranger to fighting there. With victories over the likes of Ireland’s Peter Queally, South Africa’s Barend Nienaber and Zimbabwe’s Regis Muyambo all at lightweight. But Silva offers a challenge unlike any Kabesa has faced before. Phenomenally experienced with a professional MMA record of 22-12, he is also a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blackbelt and a multiple MMA champion. Silva is the real deal.
Originally from Rio de Janerio, he has fought out of Team Noguira under the famous Noguira brothers for most of his career. He recently moved to South Africa to take on a coaching and …

[Cape Town, South Africa] A few days ago, a video of man doing a boxing combo on the heavy bag emerged on social media (Facebook to be exact). In this video, you can see the man in a very unusual stance and hand movement that looks just as dodgy. This video had the Boxing community up in arms and blasting the man (who was identified as a trainer and "head coach") for teaching his students this type of technique. "People need to understand to that these okes (referring to qualified boxing and MMA coaches) have b…

[Cape Town, South Africa] 2017 has brought us the most anticipated rematch in EFC history. The build up to this fight included a reality show ,The Fighter, where we saw nothing but pure contempt between two champions,  Irshaad Sayed and Demarte Pena.

All this came to an end on 16 December 2017, when Pena successfully defended his title in a convincing manner and set the record straight. He is the KING of the bantamweight division and ( I can say this with all confidence) the EFC's Pound 4 Pound best fighter of all times.

At the EFC 66 press conference Pena announced that he will be taking some time off and was not sure what he will be doing next or when he will be back. Late in December he announced the opening of his new gym, Ultimate MMA Fitness, along with friend and team mate, Themba Gorimbo.

On 4 January 2018 at 20:41, Pena made an announcement that shocked many people and left everyone wondering. He posted to twitter that he wants JP Buys to fight Sayed or the "French gu…
